You should delete your browser cookies before buying hotel rooms and airline tickets – Ticket and hotel fares go up when you’ve visited a site multiple times.
For example, why is it that when booking a hotel on Hotwire, the prices changed within a few minutes of initially doing a search?
It looks like I’ve been “tracked”. Hotwire said, “Hey, this little lady is interested in one of our rooms in Midtown East, let’s jack up the price and see if she still buys.” Basically I searched this on Hotwire, then I left and came back and did the same search on the same computer. Check it out – same search, two different prices.
First search: $159
How to beat the system:
Simply go “incognito”. The incognito window allows you to search the internet without anything tracking you, where you are or where you’ve been. Click below if you are unsure of how to do this. It’s very simple. Just look on the top right of your browser and click on the three little lines next to the address bar (if you’re using Chrome), then hit “incognito window”. And you’re good to go!
